Everett L. Hixson, III (Rett)
Rett is a civil litigator with an active practice in state and federal court. His experience includes representing both individual and corporate clients in all aspects of litigation, including contract and commercial litigation, construction, insurance coverage and bad faith actions, real estate litigation, employment law, personal injury, and appellate practice. Rett has also drafted leases and represented commercial and residential landlords in litigation. He has also represented creditors in both bankruptcy and in state courts.
Rett is a graduate of the University of Memphis Cecil C. Humphreys School of Law. While attending law school, he was the research editor of the Law Review and received the CALI Award (highest grade in the class) for Pretrial Litigation. He was the co-runner up for the Law Review’s Best Published Note Award for his publication, All Losers Should Pay in Tennessee: How to Amend T.C.A. Section 20-12-119 to Deter Meritless Claims, 44 U. MEM. L. REV. 183 (2013). During law school, he was an extern for United States Magistrate Charmiane G. Claxton in the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee, at Memphis.
